Cleaning Tips for Pet Owners

We love our four-legged and furry friends, but sometimes they can sure make cleaning difficult. Most of the time, they make more for us to clean, but it is a labor of love! There are some great tips for keeping your home clean when you have a pet and some easy ways to prevent large pet messes.

o Odors can be a real problem when you have pets. From urine and accidents to other smells, you can easily get them out of carpet and upholstery. For carpets, try a bit of baking soda. You can sprinkle a box throughout the carpet and allow it to sit for 30 minutes to an hour. After it sits, vacuum the carpet thoroughly to remove all of the baking soda. This will pull up odors and keep your home smelling fresh. Advantage 2 for cats and dogs are here.

o One way to prevent messes around your pet's food bowl is to purchase a very low tray with sides. Many people utilize litter boxes or storage containers for this. Place your pet's food and water bowls in this so if there are crumbs or messes, it will all stay within the container. You can then dump and clean it every so often to maintain it and keep it clean.

o To keep pet hair at a minimum, dust your home and sweep and mop your home every single day! Simply use a feather duster or a wet cloth to wipe down all surfaces, knick-knacks, etc. Then, sweep up the floors and damp mop them to get rid of hair.
